Becky's Breakfast Casserole

1/2 lb sausage
1 med. onion, chopped
4 cups frozen diced hash browns
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 eggs beaten
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp pepper
1 crescent roll pkg (use half of the rolls for a 8 x 8 pan, or all the rolls for a 9 x 13)

In a skillet cook up sausage and onion. Drain fat. Using an 8 x 8x 2 dish place the crescent rolls on bottom of pan like a crust. Then layer ingredients in this order: potatoes, 1/2 the cheese, sausage, potatoes, until used up, then top with the remaining cheese. In a bowl combine eggs, milk, and pepper and pour on top of the casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes.
