1 cups butter, softened
1 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoons baking powder
½ cup sour cream
3 cups flour
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
Beat for about 3 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat for another 3 minutes.
Sift together baking soda, salt, baking powder and flour. Add alternately with
sour cream in three additions. Cover dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate
overnight.
When ready to use, remove dough from refrigerator and divide
into fourths. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness. Using a cookie cutter, cut into
desired shapes. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until
just barely beginning to brown around the edges. Makes about 2 dozen cookies
Frosting Ideas:
Cream Cheese Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
3-ounces cream cheese
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix butter and cream cheese together. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time. Add milk until desired consistency is
reached. Add vanilla.
Beehive State Icing
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 oz. cream cheese
¼ cup creamed honey
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, cream cheese and
creamed honey. Add vanilla and powdered sugar until well blended.
